The first swarm of 2019

Boom! There we have it folks, the first swarm of the year. Equally as weird as this year has been for bees and how this colony rolls in. Mid-day they appeared on a ornamental shrub in a condominium complex in North Napa off Big Ranch Road. As quickly as they arrived they left and moved about 30 feet East into the landscapers truck. It took awhile, but we got them all hived up in my new Bee-Pro Nuc box, isolated what looks to be like a young unmated queen, then later that evening rode them home on my bike.

Mission accomplished.

Fairly decent sized swarm tucked in behind the drivers seat

Bee covered seatbelt

Whoop, there she is... Looking like a young unmated queen

Kinda likin' my new Bee-Pro Nuc, I mean it's my first experience with one but they seem pretty tight. I might suggest a couple mods but we can talk about those later. Check em' out at: Bee-pros.com
